Ok, I have finally come to terms with Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire. The show has grown on me. It hit me, that this is VERY familiar to the D&D that was played by my friends and I as teenagers.
Many a night, around the 3 Domino’s boxes full of cold pizza, we would have these strange adventures. The latest episode of Mandoon, the gang is captured by a Bi-clops in a booby traped hot tub. Yes, a bi sexual cyclops. Hilarity insues.
This show was obviously created from taped gaming sessions of teenagers.
And I like it.
The geeklet and I just finished watching “The Colour of Magic” movie based on the book of the same name by Terry Pratchett. It has been a delight to watch by Jake and me, almost until the end. During the ending, there are some dark and mean things happening that were too much for a five year old. (He got scared and ran out of the room during the last seven minutes.)
The story centers on a wizard that cannot cast any spells who gets kicked out of Wizard University. This wizard, Rincewind, is commissioned with being a guide to the first tourist in their land. Sean Astin plays the tourist, Twoflowers. They have many adventures including saving damsels in distress, meeting Cohan the (elderly) barbarian, fighting monsters, going into space, and saving the world. Speaking of the world, the world they live on is Discworld, which is a flat planet that sits on the back of four elephants that ride on the shell of a giant turtle that flies through space. Wild huh? Discworld is also the series of books that this story is one of.
When I describe Pratchett’s writing, I say that it is like a fantasy story mixed with Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
The Skinny:
The movie was great, the end was touching, and now I am reading the book. Oh, almost forgot, the movie is four hours long and will be available on DVD in a few months. TiVO captured this gem for us from Ion TV.
As promised, here is the photo of Stuart Varney, from FOX News and yours truely.

Not really..but awesome none- the- less.
I had the priviledge to meet Stuart Varney from FOX Business News today at the 60th MS Economic Council Convention. He was the keynote speaker and did a bang-up job. I got to get an autograph and have my picture taken, however the elderly man who took the picture could not work my “fancy picture phone”. So I just have an autograph to show for it.

There was a cameraman from the MEC who took the shot also…some investigating may turn up a photo.
I know, lame post title…
Tonight we finally get to see Miles story. Great character who has received the shaft as far as episodes go. He is in the running to be one of the characters killed off this season.
Could this Miles-centric episode be his last?
I can’t wait. Both kids in bed by 8:00pm, right after part 2 of Colour of Magic. Jake is becoming a Discworld fan. Who would have though that a 5 year- old could enjoy Terry Pratchett?
Between Good Friday and Easter Sunday is “Sin Saturday”.
Pick one or two of the seven and have a great day.
I am working on Sloth and Gluttony.
